Defining objectives- When it comes to sports or even a company, a very important concept to be able to achieve the result that you set is a work of goal setting, or of defining goals.

The SMART model:

1. Specific: Goals should be as specific as possible. To understand whether or not we have achieved a goal it is important that it is clear (e.g. "to surpass my record of 3 seconds") and that it is not too general (e.g. "the goal is to improve my performance").

2. Measurable: Tied to the concept of before, the more a goal is measurable (numeric), the easier it is to be able to understand whether, after a competition or a season, the goal has been achieved.

3. Attainable (Accessible): To be effective, a goal must be accessible, that is, even if it is challenging, the athlete or the group can achieve it. Setting a goal that is impossible to achieve can lead to discontent, loss of self-efficacy, and frustration in the individual.

4. Realistic (Relevan): As seen before, the goal must be important and challenging for the athlete; With a goal too easy to achieve or one not fundamental for the athlete or group it is easy that there is a loss of motivation and a lower level of attention and concentration.

5. Time-Bounded: A key feature for effective goals is the time variable; It is important to clarify very well the timing in which these objectives are to be achieved. If the goal has long-term maturity (for example, the Olympics are every 4 years), it is also important to define medium and short-term goals i.e. goals with closer timelines that are to be considered as stages to achieve the most important goal.
